L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Global Care Day SPF25, 50ml

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Global Care Day SPF25£19.99 (currently£13.33 on offer)

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Peeling Lotion (Left) and Global Care Day SPF25 (Right)

There are lots of SPF face products on the market, this one is specifically for those trying to fade dark marks/ spots and reminds me of the Olay Regenerist Flawless SPF30 -which I loved for a long time until my skin decided to turn dry on me – because it includes niacinamide (vitamin B3) which helps fade discolourations. The texture of this is much more hydrating in comparison to Olay and leaves my skin feeling very comfortable.

How I applied this: I apply half a pump to my cheeks, as I have darks marks from breakouts there, and then take another half pump and apply all over my face, then another half pump for my décolletage. As I have been using the peeling lotion at night I use SPF regularly (mainly in an effort to fade dark marks) when I am not wearing makeup and top up with powder with SPF when I am wearing makeup.

The bottle design has a pump which can be turned and locked (yay for lockable lid-less pumps!). Also, the pump can be controlled to dispense how much product you want (another yay!). The feel of the product is light with a very subtle scent, is very easy to apply, absorbs without leaving any residual greasiness on face and no whitecast, I repeat, no whitecast at all, on my nc30 skin.

Here is the product description from boots.com:

“Introducing new Revitalift Laser Renew Anti-Wrinkle + Anti-Dark Spot skincare regime. Helps stimulate skin surface cell renewal leaving your skin’s past behind. With patented 3% Pro-Xylane. Appears to help protect from premature skin ageing. Proven Effectiveness. Wrinkles appear reduced. Reduces the look of dark spots and helps prevent new ones from forming. Clarifies, skin tone looks brighter.

How to use: Apply the Global Day Cream SPF25 every morning to a thoroughly cleansed face in circular motions. To complete your regime:

– To refine the look of your skin apply Laser Renew peeling lotion nightly.

– For intense action, apply Laser Renew Super Serum before this Global Care SPF25.

– For targeted action, use Laser Renew Precision Eye Pen around the eyes.”

Summary after using for 3-4 days: I have not used this again, as it did break me out a little. I ran the ingredients through CosDNA and found that it contains Isopropyl Isostearate, which is rated 5 for Acne causing and 0 for Irritant. I have passed this on to my mum and she loves it, and also finds it performs better for dry skin than the Olay Flawless, which she also loved for fading dark spots.

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Peeling Lotion Night 125ml

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Peeling Lotion Night, £24.99 (currently£16.66 on offer)

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Laser Renew Peeling Lotion (Left) and Global Care Day SPF25 (Right)

This is like a emulsion/toner, and if you know the purpose of Alpha H Liquid Gold then you will be pleased to hear this is like a drugstore version of the cult favourite. It isn’t much cheaper, but seen as it will be stocked in boots makes it more readily available, and boots always have those offers that suck us in. I think this is not as strong – 3% glycolic acid – as Liquid gold as it doesn’t sting on application at all, so perfect for me as my skin could not tolerate Liquid Gold without a reaction or irritation bumps (luckily I had a sample to try).

How I apply this: Soak a cotton round and sweep on cleansed dry face, being careful not to rub. 2-3 times a week. I have no idea if it is ok to apply anything after this, but I have had great results with this alone on my skin overnight. My skin does not feel uncomfortable or dry, but like I have applied a thin layer of mask. This makes my skin glow in the morning, dark marks from breakouts are fading quicker after I started using this and dry patches have now been cleared  – yay! *Important: Use a high SPF containing product in the daytime, I use a Neutrogena Sheer touch SPF70 under makeup or Avene SPF30 which I reapply after 2-3 hours if I am out all day.

The bottle design is perfect, the bottle can be squeezed to dispense product on to a cotton round with ease without spilling or over dispensing. The feel of the liquid is slightly slippery, so it is very easy to apply smoothly.

Here is the product description from boots.com:

“Introducing Revitalift Laser Renew Anti-Wrinkle + Anti-Dark Spot skincare regime. Helps stimulate skin surface cell renewal leaving your skin’s past behind. With Glycolic Acid, a key ingredient used by dermatologists for peeling treatments. Proven Effectiveness. Wrinkles appear reduced. Reduces the look of dark spots and helps prevent new ones from forming. Clarifies, skin tone appears to look brighter.”

L’Oréal L’EXTRAORDINAIRE BY COLOR RICHE Liquid lipstick

L’Oréal L’EXTRAORDINAIRE BY COLOR RICHE in 401 Fuschia drama & 601 Nude ballet, £8.99 eachIMG_7064

“New L’Extraordinaire by Color Riche is our extraordinary new lip colour from L’Oréal Paris for high shine and intense colour. Thanks to luxurious micro-oils infused with rich pigments, you can enjoy lip perfection in 3 dimensions:

1) Colour intensity of a lipstick. 2) Magnifying shine of a gloss. 3) Softness of a balm.

Available in 9 extraordinary shades. Our combination of carefully blended luxurious micro-oils infused with rich pigments. We replaced the waxes with oils for an incredible shine and softness. L’Extraordinaire is formulated with oils to catch the light for magnified colour. Enriched with lotus flower, argan, camelia seed and rose canina fruit oils, the formula gives a nourishing care feeling and a super soft finish.

How To Apply Application is made easy with a feather-soft wand – simply apply colour in a single stroke.” (www.loreal-paris.co.uk)

Firstly 601 Nude Ballet is a nude slightly pink-toned beige shade and 401 Fuchsia Drama a true bright fuchsia shade.IMG_7063

A thin layer of the liquid lipstick blended into the lips gave me a sheer glossy look with a hint of colour, much like what I would expect from a regular lip gloss. A thicker layer gave me a more pigmented lipstick+gloss effect. The end result seemed similar to the YSL glossy stain, although without the stain. Nude ballet does not apply evenly for me as I have quite pigmented lips, it was necessary to blend the gloss into my lips and then apply a second coat to get a even application, although this tone of nude was not very flattering on my skin-tone (MAC NC30-35); to make it work as a lipstick I have been mixing the Fuchsia with the Nude in order to get a balance between the two. On the other hand, Fuschia Drama is very pigmented and I need less product to get a pigmented even finish. These liquid lipsticks feel very comfortable – not too gloopy-, hydrating, wore evenly and lasted a good 3 hours, which is fantastic for a gloss/lipstick.

Positives: The liquid lipstick did not dry out my lips at all, felt comfortable, wore evenly, lasted 3 hours (no eating/drinking), surprisingly left my lips hydrated and smells of peaches (normally don’t like scent but this is subtle)! The applicator holds just the right amount of product to get a pigmented finish – at first it did not seem enough at all, so this surprised me, a little really goes a long way. I really like these and will be trying very hard not to buy too many more… 🙂 The price is really good and they are on 3 for 2 in boots at the moment – help!IMG_7062

Negatives: Hmmm… Maybe the scent, as it might not be to everyones taste. Also, some shades contain shimmer and you can’t see this as the actual colour inside doesn’t show through the packaging – no clear window panel- , so you don’t see the product inside until you open it and try it out.

L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil 30ml & Oil-Cream 50ml

L’Oréal Age perfect Extraordinary Oil & Oil-cream

L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil 30ml, £19.99

Extraordinary oil is a pleasure to apply, it has a distinct spa massage oil scent, feels quite luxurious for the price and is comparable to higher end face oils I have tried in the past.

How I apply this: taking a few drops in the palm of my hand, warm through my hands and then press the oil onto the face, being careful not to rub.

If I want to do a face massage after a relaxing bath I will take 5-6 drops, press first onto my face and gently massage – I like doing this when I feel tension in my face – as I have a awful habit of frowning when I am working on my computer.

I have replaced my Josie Maran argan oil and Trilogy oil with this for 2 weeks now and am very happy with the results this oil has provided. My skin is much more hydrated, looks less dull and I have found that my base makeup is applying better too. Another bonus for me is that I can use this during the day time as it is much lighter in texture than the face oils I have used before.

There is one negative… the bottle is clear and so I have been keeping it in a dark area on my vanity to keep it from spoiling. I will continue to purchase the Trilogy oil as I like the renewing effects it gives but most likely stop buying the Josie Maran oil as I feel Extraordinary oil does the same job but at a lower price point.

L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil-cream 50ml, £14.99IMG_6936

I have been following Extraordinary oil with this oil-cream and have found it to be very rich and, again, with quite a luxurious, albeit stronger, spa massage oil scent. Very little goes a long way as there is a lot of slip to the texture of Extraordinary oil-cream, and after using this for 1 week I must say that it is too rich for my skin and left my face feeling like a oil-slick. I also have had a few breakouts, being breakout prone this is something I experience with many products and does not mean this would cause breakouts in everyone, but if you are prone to breakouts I would say it may be best to try the face oil alone first.

Using the oil on its own I have found this to be enough moisture for my PM skincare routine. My mum has already expressed that she would like to give this line a try, so I will be passing the cream on to her to try hoping she will have better results.

L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo, Booster & Conditioner

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

When I first heard about this I started mentally editing out my hair and pasting in the locks of a lady who is THE L’Oreal haircare girl, you know the one in the Elnett adverts… I have heard that mousse, hairspray and texturising/dry shampoo products can give us Victoria Secret-esque hairdos… BUT now L’Oreal claim the Fibrology line – sounds like science fiction, and makes me suspicious – is able to thicken hair by simply using their in shower products and to find out if it was true I tested the line out on my straight-straight-straight hair :).

A bit more about my hair type… I have very fine, straight, flat, long (reaches to the middle of my back) hair – using more product or layering products makes my hair flatter, usually, so I try to use lighter conditioners and less product where possible.

L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo, Conditioner & Booster

L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo, Conditioner & Booster

I have used all the products on three occasions now and listed each in order of use:

L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo 400ml

The shampoo smells very fresh, foams up very well, and I didn’t find I needed much at all to give my hair a very good cleansed feel (even for my long hair I only used a 10p sized amount).

L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Booster

The booster is a weird product which has no scent, is difficult to distribute evenly in wet hair as you can’t tell where it has been applied (doesn’t have a slippery feel like conditioner just feels like water). The booster is to be used after the shampoo but before conditioner from the same range. You are supposed to use the same amount of this product as conditioner and apply from root to tip. I think I ended up using around 1/5 of the tube; so you would need to either use this less often -instructions on frequency of use are not on tube – or add it to your weekly shop!

L’Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Conditioner 400ml
The conditioner smells very fresh (same scent as shampoo) and for my long hair I only used a 10p sized amount, and this was more than enough.
Verdict
After towel drying I found my hair felt very rough and coarse, which was very odd and not how my hair normally feels at all. Using a wide tooth comb I always comb through my hair before blow-drying and found this took much longer than normal as the knots had a grippy feel to them so I tried to be a little more gentle as my hair felt worryingly brittle to touch. After blow drying I noticed my hair was lighter and more volumised/fluffy but this was temporary; after 1-2 hours my hair went back to its natural straight, flat self 😦 . The only major benefit I found with using this line (I usually use the Ojon Volumising line) was that I could go an extra day without washing my hair (I next washed my hair on the 3rd day instead of 2nd)! Also, I had curled my hair and usually the wave would completely drop out by day 2, but I still had waves the next day! This line is worth a try as the products are very reasonably priced. Also, apparently the Filloxane technology is something that is also using in windscreen sealant so it took me a few days to build up the courage to use this!
Summary
Healthy finish but no “thickening” effect seen, and gives me a extra day between washes, saving time.

This line is available at boots.com.

Have you tried this line? If so, can you let me know what you thought of it and if there is anything I can do to “Thicken” my do?  – besides teasing it into a great big knot – 😉
